What a laugh

Well, I watched England play Macedonia tonight in the football.

Boooring!!!!!! I mean if they got any more boring and average even New Zealand could beat them.

The game finished at 9:50 and we had to almost slap two of the guys I was with to wake them up. I mean I only really went along to catch up with Marty and the gang, but dang I couldn't even do that.

I think that's the last England football game I'll watch for a while.

And not that I wish to dwell on this, but Germany won 13-0! We could've watched that!

Darts, now there's a game of champions! Or air guitar - world championships soon to be held in Brighton. My gosh, how exciting!

What I did on my weekend

The last time I wrote one of these was for my travelpod website thingie, which interestingly enough I got photo of the day the other day for my three bridges photo from Slovenia (yeah me).

Anyway, what a weekend! Friday night started with Sarahs (before you ask - different Sarah)birthday up in Primrose Hill at the Engineer. Damn good that was, and all intentions of leaving early vanished very quickly. Roll on early morning night bus. Still managed to get up after 3 hours sleep at 4:30 and get down to the Eurostar though. Funny thing was that I think I handled the early get up worse than Kate.

So got on the train, got to Brussels, sped across to Brugge. Brugge, lovely town, all good, European city of culture in 2003 don't you know.

Basically ended up walking around, taking a canal cruise, and generally enjoying the scenery. I fully recommend this city if you get a chance to go to it. Yeah, it isn't the most exciting in terms of things to do, but you have a lot of culture, archetecture and scenery crammed into one small area, great seafood, great chocolates, and a really chilled atmosphere. For some reason it reminded me of Amsterdam but it is way more intimate. I only say Amsterdam because most of our time was spend around the canals.

Funny thing to mention about Brugge - I didn't have a single beer! I think I was still recuperating from the night before. Coffee was spectacular though - damn you English people, learn how to make a good coffee - but my taste buds are slowly dieing due to lack of coffee stimulation in the UK so I'm no judge of a good coffee anymore (I still hate starbucks though so I do have some credability)!

From there it was back to Brussels for two days . Can't be bothered getting into too much detail, but basically we hated our hotel (5 star my @55) and had at least one shite meal where Kate and I nearly walked out without paying. Damn those people were rude and pushy, and it takes a bit too peev me off too! The rest was all good, but I must admit that for the second time around Brussels ain't that great. Yeah there are some cool sights there - the Atomium (see photo), Grand Place, the pissing boy, the antique markets, the beer (of course), the chocolate, the waffles, various palaces and governmental/European buildings, but it just doesn't have the same vibe as Brugge - it's too cityish.

So that was my weekend. Book for the weekend was "Bound Feet & Western Dress" by Pang-Mei Natasha Chang. Damn good book, very sad yet very inspirational as well. Fully recommend it if you haven't read it. Beer for the weekend as Kwak (had to be really) and food for the weekend was waffles - if you really needed to ask. Animal for the weekend was definitely not a pony.

Its a rant, but not as you know it

So, this is a blog.

I'm not entirely sure what to do with a blog except that on those nights when I'm at home and bored I should write crap late into the night and try and talk about something meaningful. I don't know if I can do meaningful, so I'm just going to write crap.

So why do I have a blog?

Well, the other day I was thinking to myself that I haven't spoken to anyone "back home" for such a long time. I've even got bad with writing emails. In fact I've tried three times to unsuccessfully write a bulk email to everyone. I tried and didn't succeed. So this blog is that bulk email. It is the email that no-one likes to receive because who really likes a ranter anyway? Well, I do, but that's an entirely different story. Possibly something to write an entry on?

Yep (back to the story), a time difference of half a world is crap, but at the end of the day with mobile phones, landlines, email, postal system and blogs there really isn't an excuse. Now for a complete mind trip - I'm not going to tell anyone I have this site - well not just yet. I'm going to make random comments on other peoples sites and see what happens. Call this a mini experiment in social networking, call me damn lazy, call me ... well call me anything you want really. I'm still going to do it.

So, in the meantime, I think I might try and pretty up this ugly page. Maybe I'll post a picture of me, maybe I'll post a picture from my trip to Malta fom last week, or maybe I'll just try and sort out those crap links on the side of this webpage. Who knows? Again, so many options.

So now something "meaningful". What was I doing tonight to give me the time to write this entry? I was job hunting. I hate job hunting, it takes up months of my year and it is always stressful wondering if someone is going to pay the outrageous rates I charge to sit on my butt all day. I mean, I'm a talented man, I have great skills and can web surf with the best of them. I know how to turn on a computer, how to talk on a phone, what more is there to life?

But I've set the wheels in motion, so if anyone knows of a job in London for me...?

Anyway, more about that later. I have to check the weather forecast for Belgium.
